Crown Tree Consultancy are looking for a passionate Arboricultural Consultant / Surveyor to join our team in the southeast of England, working from home. What We’re Looking For
As an Arboricultural Consultant, each week you will visit a variety of interesting projects across London and the southeast, surveying trees and offering your expertise to clients via our impeccably produced reports.
The day-to-day job varies considerably, from issuing pre-application planning guidance to checking on the health of veteran trees, and everything in between. Initially, your role will be dependent on your current skill set and appropriate training will be provided so that, as you gain experience, you can confidently undertake more types of work. Key responsibilities of this role include:
- On-site Tree Surveys. Conduct a diverse range of assessments at sites across London and the South East.
- Report Writing & Advisory Work. Produce BS5837-compliant Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Method Statements.
- Tree Condition Assessments. Carry out surveys, diagnose issues, and provide management recommendations.
- Client Consultation. Advise clients on all aspects of arboriculture with confidence and clarity.
- Subsidence Investigations. Conduct both preliminary and ongoing vegetation-related subsidence assessments.
- Tree Planting Schemes. Develop strategic planting plans to enhance green spaces.
- Advanced Decay Detection. Use cutting-edge technology like sonic tomography and resistance drilling.
- Construction Oversight. Supervise restricted construction activities, trial excavations, and root surveys.

Who we would like to hear from
Good consultants utilise knowledge from all kinds of backgrounds; some may have been arborists while others have a wealth of construction experience. If you don’t meet every requirement but are eager to learn and have a Level 4 arboriculture qualification, we still encourage you to apply! Here’s what will help you succeed in this role:
- Arboricultural Qualifications. Level 5 preferred, Level 4 minimum.
- UK Driving License & Own Vehicle. Essential for site visits across London and the Southeast.
- Tree Knowledge. Confident in identifying tree species, pests, and diseases.
- Tech-Savvy Approach. Proficient in Microsoft Office; CAD and GIS skills are a bonus.
- Industry Expertise. Knowledge of British Standards (BS5837 & BS3998) is desirable.
- LANTRA PTI Certification & Professional Memberships – Beneficial but not essential.
- Self-Management Skills. Ability to plan and manage your workload efficiently.
- Excellent Communication. Professional, clear, and confident in dealing with clients.
